THE JOURNEY
It all started in September 2013. After years of hard work lobbying from car and bike clubs and organisations, we finally got a new legislation in Norway that would be valid from 1/1-2014. From being a total "NO", we now had the possibility to build road legal cars and bikes, either from scratch or by using fabricated kits in parts (Kit cars), as long as the finished product meets a given subset of the rules and regulations for normal cars/bikes.
After reading and investigation, then reading and investigating some more, I went to my friend and said, remember the 917?, I think we can make a 917 road legal. The expression on his face said it all, there was no turning back…
The start
From kit to custom.
At the time we did not have any original moulds and there was not a single replica manifactura that had any even if claiming to. We ended up having one of them make a frame and a body to our specifications, that we then ended up modifing to the smallest details based the original blueprints. But when nearly done, original molded body panels appeared for sale. After verifying history, we were ready for the new chapter. The body was turned into new moulds, and out from the moulds came the world´s first Carbon Fibre 917 body panels.
